Brief history of Peugeot in America
Peugeot officially started importing cars to the United States in 1958 with the introduction of the 403 sedan. Sales peaked at just over 20,000 units in 1984 but saw a steady decline through 1991 when Peugeot announced plans to cease imports to North America. Only a small number of 1992 models were imported and sold in the United States. Over the years, there have been numerous rumors regarding a Peugeot return to the North American market but no official plans have been announced.
